«¦ REPORT OF SELECT COMMITTEE. The following report was brought up by the chairman yesterday afternoon :— Your committee met, in accordance with the order of reference made by the House, op the 13th day of September, and held daily sittings until it hod taken all evidence available. 'Sour committee held nineteen meetings, and examined thirty-fonr witnesses; and the following resolution was arrived at: — To recommend the central ronte from Marton to Te Awamutu as tho beßt for the North Island Trunk Railway. Your committee attaoh hereto a full report of their proceedings and all the evidence, both oral and documentary, that thoy have taken. E. Richardson, Chairman. The Hon. Mr. Richardson gave notice that he wonld, on Monday, move that the above report be taken into consideration.
