PLYMOUTH DEPOT.

♦ TO THI XDITOB. Sir— Since my arrival in Wellington, I have road with no small degree of interest the articles and various letters whioh have from time to timo figured in the Post regarding the Plymouth dep6t. The experienoo of 17 immigrants agrees with my own ex. perionoes of "Anglo-Australian's" Plymouth "-paradise." I would be very sorry to think any of my friends at Homo knew that I was oonfined even 48 hours in suoh a » disgusting den.' The soenes of filth, the ooarsenoss, vulsrarity, Ac, are indelibly imprinted on my memory, and the very thought of Plymouth dep6t fills me with mortification and shame. Begarding musio and dancing, there was a solitary fiddle, to the strains of whioh, some more lively than others oommenoed to dance, but wore peremptorily ordered to desist. So much for " Anglo • Australian's " " musio and danoing." The days I was oonfined at Plymouth Dopit, «o far from being happy ones, were the most miserable, wretched days I have over oxperienoed, not on aooount of leaving home and friends. I left London and arrived in Plymouth happy and light-hearted, but simply because of the miserable hole in whioh we were herded like so many cattle. In conclusion, I may add that our only fear on landing in the new country was lest the Wellington Depot should prove a oounterpart of the Home "elysium." "Anglo* Australian's " ideas of oomfort, cleanliness, and " paradise " differ considerably from my own ; but one cannot account for taste, lam, Ac., DISOUBTID. 21st March.
