Mysterious Death at Whiteman's Valley.
ALLEGED POISONING. Information reached town to-day of the andden and mysterious death of a daughter of Mr. Thomas Gorrie, at Whiteman's Valley, early yesterday morning. Tho oooarrence was reported to Constable Maokay, the officer stationed at the Lower Hntt, at half, past 11 o'olook yesterday morning, by Dr. Wilford. From what wo have been able to ascertain up to the present, it appears that the deceased, whose age and Christian name have not transpired hero, paid a visit to the oity on Saturday last, and on returning homo complained of being siok. She at once wont to bed, and during the night oallod out that she was dying. She expired Bhortly afterward. From tho symptoms, Dr. Wilford, who was called in, is of opinion, we understand, that death resulted from poisoning. Constable Maokay proceeded to Whiteman's Valley at 4 o'clook yesterday afternoon to prosecute enquiries into the mysterious affair, of which the foregoing aie the whole of the particulars that oould be gleaned up to tho time of writing. An inquest was to be held at Cranmor's Hotel, Upper Hntt, at noon to-day, where also the post mortem examination was to take place. [Since writing the abovo we have learned hat tho daoeasod'g name is Alice Gorrie, and that she waa 20 years of age.]
