The regiment of soldiers who for some time put hare been guarding tho Government Buildings in Madrid, during the recent Republican outbreaks, havo been withdrawn. The ship Mirzapore, which ran ashore at Boulogne, has filed with water, and it is feared oho will become a total wreck. The Economist, in an article on financial matters in tho colonies, considers that the Australian banks are too active, and fears that a reaction will ensue. One of the " Invincibles " has been sentenced to a year's imprisonment for threat* Going to murder Mr. J. J. Colman, M.P. for Norwich. The British Shipowners' Association are pressing upon Earl Granville the necessity of offering greater facilities for the construction of the second canal through Suez. Tho Pope has \witten to Archbishop M'Cabe enquiring whether Irish prients have abstained from encouraging the agitation in Ireland. No reply has as yet beon sent.
