NEWS FROM THE TRANSVAAL. REBELS SENTENCED TO DEATH. EXTRAORDINARY EXPLOSION AT WOOLWICH. LOSS OF LIFE. CbBUTKB'B TELEGRAMS.] (Received Sept. 25, 11.30 a.m.) Capetown, ; 24th September. Intelligence has been received from the Transvaal that the native chiefs Mapoch and Mampoer, the leaders of the rebellion against the Boers in the early part of this year, who were subsequently made prisoner^ have been tried at Pretoria, and have been sentenced to death. LoVdon, 24th September. A serious explosion occurred to-day at the rockot factory at Woolwich. Hundreds of rockets wore discharged in all directions, many flying into the streets and causing great havoc to houses and other property. Two persons have died from injuries received by the explosion.
