CONCEALMENT OF A JEWESS IN A CONVENT.

+ In tho Chancery Court on 10th April, a motion was made on behalf of Dr. Lacey, Roman_ Catholio Bishop of Middlesborongh, and Miss Burko, lady superior of a Roman Catholio home at Middlesborough, to discharge an order of tho Court of 21st March. The order required the personal attendance of Dr. Lacey and Miss _ucke_tthe hearing of the petition to give information to the Court as to the present whereabouts of a young Jewess. The young lady, the daughter of a Polish Jew, loft her father's house in New York in July last, and after residing with her uncle at Leeds, and her grandmother at Middlesborough, found her way into a Roman Catholic homo at Middlesborough. The grandmother appliod to the lady superior to havo her grandchild restored, but without effect. A power of attorney was then received from the father, at New York, and the young lady was made a ward of court. On 21st March his lordship ordered tho personal attendance of Dr. J-ceyand Miss Burke. This order it was now sought to have discharged, first, because it was irregular, and secondly because it wont beyond the jurisdiction of the Court. His lordship, in delivering judgment, said in this caso it was necessary to act swiftly and promptly, so that the ward might not be spirited away out of tho jurisdiction of tho Court. Thoro was good reason to believe that Dr. Lacoy and Miss Burke could say whoro tho young girl could be found. The ordor of 21st March must be maintained, and the motion dismissed with costs.
