Malet, late diplomatic agent and Consul -General iv Egypt, h;is been appointed to succeed Sir Savilo Luinley as Britibh Minister at Brussels. The homeward mails, via Sue^ aud Brindisi, which left Melbourne on 24th April, •were delivered here to-day. Consols have fallen to 100^. New Zealand securities remain as follows: — 5 percent. 10-40 loan, 106; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 105 ; 4J per cent. 18791904 loan, 102 ; 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 102. Breadstuifs are without quotable change. Adelaide wheat, ex store, 48s ; New Zealand ditto, 44s to 475. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 33s 6d. Australian tallow continues dull at 41s for best beef, and 42s Cd for best mutton. At to-day's ¦wool sale the catalogue comprised 9200 bales. The tone of the sale was again quiet. 7th June. Her Majesty the Queen, who has been residing at Balmoral for the pant fortnight, has much improved in health during her residence in the Highlands. Cairo, 6th Juno. The first elections for the Egyptian National Assembly are fixed f Or the end of the present month. Moscow, 6th June.
