Plimmer, John, settler Whitehonse, Thos., merohant Willeston, 0. E. W., tobaooonist Young, Andrew, gentleman Bankers: Bank of New Zealand. Solicitors i Messrs. Sievwright A Stout. Auditors : Powlea, Charles P., Seoretary Northern Land and Loan Company. Widdop, William, City Auditor. Brokers and Acting Secretaries j Williamson A Co., Wellington and Christohnroh. This Company has been formod for acquiring and working on an extended scale and in a oorporate oapaoity, the Berhampore Tannery and Currying Works, owned by Messrs. Looke and Mowbray, and the Boot and Shoe Manufactory, Ghnsnee-street and Willis-Street, Wellington, owned by Messrs. William and John Staples. The Tannery and Currying Premises, whioh are duly licensed, consist of extensive buildings, pits, sheds, workmen's dwellings, Ac, Ao., with every facility for oarrying on the business ; and they are admirably Situated within the oity boundary, on about an aore of freehold ground, through which runs a never-failing stream of water, yielding a plentiful Bupply. Suitable land adjoins, and con be made available for immediate extensions. The maohinery inolndes an excellent 12-horse-power engine, a steam-roller, nearly new and in perfect working order, Ac, Ao. Every variety of leather is herdproduoeable. and from every kind of skin. A ready market exists for all their manufactures The Boot and Shoe Factory stands upon freehold land in the very osntre of the oity. The latest improvements in maohines and applianoes are in nse. There are between 50 and 60 hands constantly employed. ¦ A very valuable and steadily increasing connection has been formed throughout the country, and the orders far exoeed the vendors powers to supp'y. The vendors' motives for selling are simply the necessity that exist* fcr additional oapital to maintain and extend both businesses, and to work them in a combined and muoh more profitable manner. TO ILIUSTRATB THE CONFIDENCE THAT THE VENDORS HAVE IN THIS UNDERTAKING, IT IS ONLT NECESSARY TO MENTION THAT ALL THEIR CArITAL'4NDENTIREINTERISTB ARE TO REMAIN IN THE OOMPANT, AND TO BE REPRESENTED BT FOLLY PAID-UP SHARES J AND THEY FURTHER AQBEE, AS A PROOF OF THEIR hond fides, THAT BUCK SHARKS SHALL NOT BE TRANSFERRED OR DEALT WITH BY THEM FOB TWO YEARS FROM THEIR ISSUE WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THE DIRECTORS. It is oomputed that a moderate outlay will warrant shareholders in expeoting a return of at leabt_ 15 per cent, after providing for all contingencies. The great success that nan hitherto »t- ; tended Bimilar establishments bo incorporated may be accepted as Hatiafaotory evidenoeof the feasibility of the present enterprise. A j combination of two Buoh manuf aotutes, completely werked together as one oonoern, i cannot fail to be profitable. The Kaiapoi, and the Mosgiel Woollen Manufacturing Companies, may be takes as precisely analogous institutions to this undertaking, the raw material being dealt with through all the various prooessea until completed for immediate use. The shares of both these Companies are in demand by the pnblio at a heavy premium, The importance of encouraging all local industries in the oolony, in order to keep up a steady resident population, is so self-evident as to need no remark. It may be pointed ont that Wellington, from ite central position, is admirably adapted as a distributing oentre for all manufactures and imports. The operations of a large Company, working with ample oapital, together with the advantages of unproved labour-saving maohinery recently introduced into older centres of population, | must neocssarily tend to lessen greatly the oost of production. These facts, coupled with speoial facilities for distribution, will enable the Company now proposed to confer npon every member of the community the boon of obtiiniog first-class goods at a marvellously reduced prioe. The services have been obtained of the l&te proprietors on specially favourable terms. Investors and the pubHo generally are invited to participate in securing advantages so manifest. Copies of the Memorandum of Association and Agreement lor purohase, with detailed statement of particular*, and all information required, can be obtained from the Company's brokers and solicitors. All deposits, without reduction, will be promptly returned in event of the Company not being registered. CH. TOMLINSON, LAND, ESTATE, AND GENERAL COMMISSION AGENT, SANSON, MANAWATU.
