Auditors : Powles, Charles P., Secretary Northern Land and Loan Company. Widdop, William, City Auditor. Brokers and Acting Secretaries t Williamson k Co., Wellington and Christohuroh. This Company has been formed for acquiring and working on an extended scale and In a corporate oapaoity, the Berhampore Tannery and Currying Works, owned by Messrs. Look© and Mowbray, and the Boot and Shoe Manufactory, Ghnsnee-stre»t and Willis-street, Wellington, owned by Messrs. William and John Staples. The Tannery and Currying Premises, whioh are duly licensed, oonsist of extensive buildings, pita, sheds, workmen's dwellings, &0., Ao.. with every facility for osrrying on the business: and they are admirably situated within the oity boundary, on about an aore of freehold ground, through whic&i runs a never-failing stream of water, yielding a plentiful supply. Suitable land adjoins, and oan be made available for immediate extensions. The machinery includes an exoellent 12-horse-power engine, a steam-roller, nearly new and in perfect working order, Ac, Ao. Every variety of leather is here produoeable. and from every kind of skin. A ready market exists for all their manufactures. The Boot and Shoe Factory stands upon freehold land in the very centra of the oity. The latest improvements in machines and appliances are in use. There are between 50 and 60 hands constantly employed. A very valuable and steadily increasing connection has been formed throughout the oountry, and the orders far exoeed the vendors' powers to supply. The vendors' motives for selling are simply the necessity that exist* fcr additional capital to maintain and extend both businesses, and to work them in a combined and much more profitable manner. TO ILLUSTRATE THE CONFIDENCE THAT THE VENDORS HAVE IN THIS UNDERTAKING, IT IB ONLT NECESSARY TO MENTION THAT ALL THIIR CAPITAL AND ENTIRE INTERESTS ARC TO REMAIN IN THB COMPANT, AND TO BE REPREbENTID BT FOLLY FAID-OP BHABEB ; AND THEY FURTHER AOBEE, AS A proof or their bond fides, that such BBABSB SHALL HOT BE TRAKB7XBBEO OB DEALT WITH BT THEM FOB TWO TJCAJM FROM THEIB ISSUE WI I HOUT THE CONBENT OF THS DIRECTOR*. It is computed that a moderate outlay will warrant shareholder* in expecting a return of at least 15 per cent, after providing for all contingencies. The great suooess that has hitherto attended similar esteblinhments so incorporated may be aooepted as satisfactory evidence of the feasibility of the present enterprise.. A combination of two such manufactures, completely werked together as one concern, cannot fail to be profitable. The Kaiapoi, and the Moßgiel Woollen Manufacturing Companies, may be taken as precisely analagons inntitntions to this undertaking, the r*w material being dealt with through all the various processes until completed for immediate nee. The shares of both these Companies are in demand by the publio at a heavy premium. The importance of encouraging all local industries in the colony, in order to keep n j a steady resident population, is so self-evident as te need no remark. It may be pointed out that Wellington, from its central position, is admirably adapted as a distributing oentrd for all manufactures and imports. The operations of a large Company, working with ample capital, together with the advantages of improved labour-saving machinery recently introduoed into older centres of population, must neoesaarily tend to lessen greatly the coat of produotion. These facts, ooupled with special facilities for distribution, will enable the Company now proposed to confer upon every member of the community the boon of obt lining first-class goods at a marvellously reduced prioe. „..,.. The services have been obtained of the late proprietors on specially favourable terms Investors and the publio generally are invited to participate in securing advantages so manifest. Copies of the Memorandum of Association and Agreement for purchase, with detailed statement of particulars, aud all information required, oan be obtained from the Company's brokers and solicitors. All deposits, without reduction, will be promptly returned in event of the Company not being registered.
