VISIT OF THE SYDNEY FOOTBALLERS.

informed those present that he had received a cable measage announcing the departure of the New South Wales team for Acokland, at which plaoe they would play a match on Saturday next. On the Friday following they wonld arrive in Wellington, and play the local representatives the next day. The expenses of the visitors throughout New j Zealand had been estimated at about .£6OO, whioh sum they oonld not be expected to take from their own pockets. U had, therefore, been decided by the Wellington Union to ask the olubs in the ohief centres what amonnti they oould offer towards the expenses of the tour. KepHea had been received from Auckland, Christchurob, and Dunedin ; the former had expressed its willingness to contribute £100 and half the proceeds, Canterbury offered two-thirds of the gross prooeeds, whilst Dunedin agreed to pay the whole of the Sydney team's expenses throughout Otago. Wellington was willing to give £50 and half of the proceeds. A slight discussion followed this statement, and on the motion of Mr Cowie, it was resolved to leave all business arrangements in the hands of the Committee of Management of the Union. Mr. lynoh stated that the Match Committee hal already selected twenty-five or ttirty gentlemen from the different clubs, and ont of thi* number the representative team would picked. A cordial vote of thankß to the Chairman brought the meeting to a close.
