Subject to necessary alterations, mails close at Chief Post Office, "Wellington, as under :— Thuesdat, 29th December. For Picton, Nelson, and West Coast ports, per sb Hawe.a, at 12.20 p.m. ' For Wanganui, per ss Wakatn, at 5 p.m. Friday, 30th December For Southern Offices of New Zealand, per ss Wanaka, at 11.20 a.m. For Napier, Gisborne and Auckland, per ss •Eingarooma, at 2.20 p.m. 1 Satubdat, 31st December r For Kuw Plymouth, Auckland, Sandwich Ib•Luiclb, America, and Continent of Europe and ; United Kingdom via San Francisco, per Hawea, at 5 p.m. On Monday next, 2nd January, 1882, the Chief Post Office will be open to the public for one hour ■only— namely, from 9 to 10 a.m. Deliveries at the counter will, however, be made on the preiviouß Saturday, from 7 to 8 p.m. EDWAED BUTTS, Chief Postmaster.
