A circular has been issued to the English clergy by Dr. Tait, the Archbishop of Canterbnry, in whioh the latter proposea that more direct communication should be established between the Home and colonial 1 churches, with a view to encourage the spread of Christian knowledge in the colonies, and for the spiritual benefit of emigrants. Madrid, 2lst December., In the Cortes to-day, Senor Armijo, Minister for Foreign Affairs, announced that a protest had been recently sent by Spain to* England against the charter granted to the North Borneo Trading Company, and that diplomatic correspondence was now proceeding between the British and Spanish Governments in regard to tha matter.
