RESCUING THE MINERS. THE LADIES' LAND LEAGUE PROSCRIBED. FANATICISM IN THE SOUDAN. MASSACRE OF 300 NEGROES. London, 17th December.
Accounts to hand from the scene of the colliery explcsion nt ar Wigan state that all the miners except 40 hare been rescued, and the mortality has therefore been leß3 than waa at first expected. A proclamation has been issued by the Irish Executive declaring the Ladies' Land League to be an illegal organisation. Intelligence is to hand from Africa that a false prophet in the Soudan collected 2GOO negro fanatics, and then caused 300 of them to be massacred in cold blood. The rest succeeded in escaping.
