GRAND CEREMONY AT ROME. CANONIZATION AT ST. PETER'S. HEALTH OP THE POPE. THE FIGHTING IN TUNIS. PURSUIT OF THE INSURGENTS. Rome, Bth December. A grand and impressive ceremony was performed to-day at Sfc. Peter's, the occasion being the canonization of four eminent deceased members of the Church of Rome. The ritea of canonization were performed by Pope Leo, and the proceedings were marked with great splendour and brilliance. His Holiness, whose health has for a long time past been most unsatisfactory, continues in a very feeble state, and was only able with difficulty to take part In the day's proceedings. Paris, 9th December. Intelligence is to hand from Tnnis that the French troops have of late been everywhere successful over the insurgents, a remnant of whom hi- ■ now only left. They are retreating to the froiit-~r of Tripoli, and the French troops are in pnrsuit. A considerable force of Turkish troops has been despatched from Tripoli to the frontier to protect it against the retreating rebels. London, 9th December. Five additional Land Sub-Commissioners have been appointed in Ireland.
