Dunedin, 6th Docember. Mr. D. Miller has withdrawn from the contest for Eoslyn. Christchurch. 6th Dccombor. Sir. E. Lockhead, tha Premier's opponent for Selwyn, re- o.ved a vote of thanks and confidence) laot night at Loeston, Waßoanui, 6th December. - Mr. W. H. Watt, a eandidato for the. , Wanganui soat, addressed a large meeting !of electors this evening. A vote of confidence and an amendment of no-oonfideno© were proposed, tho amendmont being carriod by 120 to 117. . This Dat. At Mr. Watt's meeting last mght, Mr. Bryce, who was present, was called for by a> section of tho audience, and came on tho platform. Great uproar ensued, ohoors and liisseß mingling. Cries were raised of " Not an elector," " Ministerial influeuoe," "Undue influence," "Turnooat," and a hearing was refused. The Chairman, after obtaining silence, ruled that Mr. Bryoe, not being an elector, was not entitled to speak. Auckland, This Dat.B Mr. Laing has retired from tho City West contest. He was not on any roll in the colony.
