ELECTION INTELLIGENCE.
4 Mr. Charles Johnston, one of the Te Aro candidates, held a meeting in the Arcade last evening, wken there was a large attendance. Mr. W. V. Jackson was chosan chairman. He repeated his views on the piincipal political topics of the day, expressed his entire approval of the action of the Government in relation to Native affairs, and eulogised the conduct of the volunteers responding so readily to the call made on them during the late crisis, Baying that, if elected, he would do his utmost to seoure due recognition of their services. He was opposed to an elective Upper House, was in favour of fostering local industry, and endowing harbour boards with grants of land. A great number of questions were answered to the apparent satisfaction of the questioners, and a vote of confidence was carried by a large majority. An amendment for a vote of thanks only wa* put and negatived. Mr. Paul Coffey invites the electors to meet him at the Princess Theatre, ToryBtreet, at 8 o'clock this evening. Dr. Buller addressed the electors at Tawa Flat and Porirua an Wednesday evening, and received a vote of confidence at each place.
