THE REEFTON FIRE.
+ [By Telegraph.] [united press association.l Reefton, 30th Novemb v. The fire ye9terday originated in Finlay's bakery, and gained rapid hold. It consumed on the one side Hampson's shop aud premises, and Michael Dunn's shop and furniture warehouse to the corner of the street ; on the other side Miephard'a old shop, Dawson's hall, Daw.on'sho'el, Corbett's bakery, Dank 3* hotel, and Collins' boot shop were destroyed. The conflagration was checked at a, right-of-way next Dick's butcher's shop whicn is safe. The intense heat did great damage to Cochran's hotel and Ching's store, across Broadway. Finlay is insured for £400, and Dawson for £1000. Great damage was done to property in other places by the hasty removal of goods. The unsecured lo3s is £15,00'). Dawson sustained some casualties ; Charlos Sinclair broke his arm ; Henry Budge got a broken head; and David M'Beath had his hand severely hurt. The air was hot and oppressive ; but the calm prevented the further spread of the fire. The "oflic3s affected are the Imperial (on Dawsoa's), £500; and Reee (Corbett's), £100; total loss. Victorian—Finlay, £209 ; Collings, £75 ; Bank (?), £330. Standard— Collings, £200; Finlay, £200 ; Dawaon, £500, total loss. New Zealand—Collings, £350, total loss. Folio wing are the insurances on the properties which are partially damaged: — New Zealand— Cochran, £100 ; Ohing, £40. New Zealand and Standard (divided)— The Globe Hotel, £IOU Victoria— Bell, tobacconist, £100.
