Tho Dunedin Spring Meeting commenced to-day. The weather was lovely, but the attendance rather small, there being probably 2000 present. The racing, on the whole, was good and interesting, the favourites winning in each case. Betting was very limite J, most of the business being done on the totalisator. Handicap Hurdle Race, of 35 soys. ; second horse to receive 5 soya. from ihe stakes; one milo and a half; seven flights of hurdles, 3ft 6in high. Maiden Plate of 40 soys. ; one mile and a quarter ; weight for a.re. Me3srs. Maaon and Vallance's Kawdon ... 1 Mr. .-tevenson'B Eugene ... ... ... f Mr. Kirby's Mama^uke f Rawdon came in a winner with a lot in hand by three-quarters of a length, Mameluke and Eugene running a dead heat for second place, having run a rattling race together ; Teviot fourth. Time, 2min. 253ec. Of in the totalisator, JBLII was on the winner. St. Andrew's Handicap of 100 soys. ; two miles. Mr. Goodman's Chancellor, Bst 91b ... 1 Mr. Kirby's Adamant, 7st slb 2 Mes3ra. Mason and Vallance's Volunteer, dst6lb 3 Tasman, 6st 13:b, and Legerdemain, Gst 91b, also started. Chancellor won a very interesting ra.c.3 by fu'<^y two lengths.
