The latest intelligence from Hobart regarding the re ortod volcanic outbreak is to the effect tbafc a b'illiant illumination is vi&ible from the town, but no authentic news has yet been received regarding thiß disturbance. This Day. Arrived, last evening — P. and O. Company's steamship Rome, with English mails, date! London, 2 1st October. Sydney, 26th November. The cricket match between the English eleven and twenty-two of the Northern districts wa3 concluded at Newcastle to-day, and resulted in a draw in favour of the local team. The twenty-two in their first innings scored 79 : and the Englishmen, in their second, 75. In the second innings, New-c-.stle had lost 10 wickets for 79 ruus, when time was called. Abelaide, 26th November. The accounts of the South Australian Wheat crops are favourable, and it is expected that there will be an average yield of seven bushels to the acre. Hobart, This Day. Hundreds of people yesterday visited th« scene of the fire which has been raging in the vicinity of the River since the extraordinary disturbance which oconrred on '.Thursday last. The accounts which have come to hand are most contradictory. The Mercury to-day expresses the belief that the fire is caused by burning peatmoss.
