The two candidates for Christohurch are Messrs, Ruddenklan and Taylor. This Day. Tho Canterbury volunteers returned from the Front yesterday evening. The Premier r waited several hours to reoeive them, but, haying to address tho eleofcors at Southbridge, had to leave before tho volunteers arrived. On landing from the Hincmoa, the volunteers were recaived by Colonel Paoke, Major Lean, and other officers ; also a guard of hononr formed by the Lyttelton Naval Brigade and Lyttelwra Brass Band. At Christchurch they were received by the Mayor, members of the City Council, a detachment of the C ity Guards, and Temuka Fife and Drum Band. The volunteers remained here all night, leaving for tho South by the first train this morning. Patea, ThisDat. Thomas Dunn, a farmer at Wcodville, died in the hospital yesterday from con* cussion of the brain through the kick of a cow. Two rival claimants for hig property had an encounter this morning, and were forcibly separated. Tho Curator of Intestate Estates has seized the property.
