STRANGE AFFAIR.
» To supply a missing l ; nk in tho chain of evidence by which he seeks to establish a claim to the title of Viscount St. Vincent, the Eev. W. H. E. E. Jervis, lately vicar of St. Paul's, Colchester, and now vicar of Cranford, Middlesex, offered a reward of five hundred pounds for the discovery of the register ef the marriago of his paternal grandfather, Wm. Hy. fiioketts, with Jane Cecilia Vinet, in the year 1800. After the lapse of Home time the reotor of a parish in Dorsetshire wrote that he had found the entry of the marriage in examining tho registers of his church to sea what damage thoy had sustained by the memorable storm of 18th January last, and Mr. Jorvis gave him a security for the amount of the reward. Iho services of M. Chabot have since been called in, and it is now stated that he has unhesitatingly pronounced the entry to be aforgnry, and that Mr. Jervis, who for a time assumed the title of Lord bt. Vincent, has demanded a full investigation into the alleged fraud, and has obtained a return of the security from the olorgyman in question.
