EXTRAORDINARY OUTRAGE NEAR MELBOURNE.
At the Kew Court, a man named Henry Edward Morgan was charged with being on the premises of Joaoph Scales, at Nunawading, with intent to commit a felony. It appeared that on the 15th September, Mr. and Mrs. Soalen had been to visit their daughter at Doncaster, and on their return home, about dusk, found prisoner in possession of their house. He had a large fire lighted, at which he was roasting a quarter of mutton. He had dressed himself in various articles of olothing belonging to Mr. Scales, and almost everything in the place was floattered abont. Mrs. Scales entered firßt, when prisoner fired a gun at her, but missed her, and on Mr. Scales following, fired three shots in succession at him, none of which fortunately took effeot Prisoner had also placed alongside him a heavy waddy, a butcher's knife, and two axes, upon seeing whioh Mr. Scales went for Monnted-oonatable Fitzgerald, who returned with him, but found that Morgan had decamped. He was, how ever, arreßted near the place the following morning. Prisoner, who stated that at the time he waa suffering from dipsomania, and had been an inmate of two lunatic asylums, but waa now certified by the medical officer of tho gaol to be Bane, was sentenced to two years' imprisonment.
