COKE AS DOMESTIC FUEL, AND HOW '10 USE IT WANTED Known— Coke may be used either in a grate or range. In making the fire u> little coal should be used first, and then the coke on top. In renewing the fire, rako out the ashes, put a little coal (slack will do very well), then place coke 01 the cinders on top ; the coke should bo not larger than an egg, and will burn better ii damped ; coka and coal should be mixed together for a range. If, instead of throwing on half a scuttlefuil at a time, the coke (foi a grato fire) is put on piece by piece with the tongs, it will repay the tronble, giving a clean brilliant fire, and throwing a much greater heat than coal alone, and at much leas co3t.
