THE MAYORAL ELECTION.
Sir— A grave question for the burgesses to considor is, aro any of thorn by their votes going to risk the chance of the chief office of honour at their disposal boing filled by a paid officer of the General Government? If this contretemps should occur, it will simply be a disgrace to the city ; in fact, if Wellington cannot produco a Mayor without drawing from the ranks of the Civil Service, the sooner the office is abolished the better. To prevent thia blot on tho city, let tho electors vote either for A. Young or W. Hutchison, both of whom are freo from thia position. Mr. Fisher, oven as a councillor, four months out of the year could not and did not attend to his dntiop. So he is still less fitted to fill the office of Mayor. I am, &c, A Burgess.
