Melbourne, 15th October. The following further soratchings for tho Melbourne Cup are announced : — Dundreary, Lord Lisgar. Marmora, Velox. The race for the Caulfield Gold Cup was rnn to-day, and was won by Master Avenel, with Pirate second. Only two started. 16th October. Arrived, this morning— P. and O. Company's steamship Ravenna, with the inward mail via Snez and Brindisi, dated London, 9th September. Adelaide, 15th October. Arrived, this afternoon — Orient Company's steamship John Elder.
