On the verdict boinar returned, tho prisonor caused a scene in court, by his ontory ; he ultimately Bwoonod, and eentcnoo had to be deferred. This Dat. t la the Supreme Court this morning, L. Hayes was sentenced to five years for rape. James Gaffney reoeived seven years for an unnatural offence. Dunkdin, sth Ootobor. At the Supreme Court to-day, Thomas Tboma3, for stabbing 1 a conatablo, was sentenced to six months. Adolph Moritzson^ was acquitted on ono indiottnent for em- \ bezzlement. Tho other ohargo is now proceeding. This Day. Moritzson was oonviotod to-day of embezzlement, and sentenoed to one year's imprisonment, after the expiration of the present sentence. Jho case against Allan, seedsman, (or alleged libel on Massoy, id occupying fclie Conrt to-day. Messrs. Haggibt : and De.misUm prosecute, and Messrs. Stont and Macdonald defend.
