PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEES REPORT.
+ Tho Publio Works Committee of the City Council will present the following report at tho Council nueting to-morrow : — (!) That they have examined Mr. F. Wills' claim for further works to be done at his premises, and cannot rocommend that it be acceded to. w-C&) # That Mr.G. W. Luxford has offered to waive all claim on account of damago done to his property on condition of having an open drain and pipe connection laid down, aud the committee recommend that his oondition be granted. (3) That the offer of the Theatre Royal Company to provide publio conveniences on certain terms bo not acceded te, and that tho original decision of the Council be adhered to. (4) That the Government have sanctioned the formation of a storm-water drain across the Reclaimed Land, at a cost not exceeding .£3OO. (5) That tho Government have offered .£650 per annum in full payment of the water supply te the various Government Buildings, but the Committee cannot recommend a reduction on the original demand of per annum. (6) That tho City Solicitor haß been instructed to defend the case brought against tho Corporation by Dennis Kelly. (7) That assent has been given te erect a Post Office pillar-box at the corner of Larab-ton-quay and Bowen - street. (8) That — Maginnity has been temporarily appointed keeper of Mount Cook pound, vice J. JJoran deceased, (it) That the Government have given their consent to tho wa'er mains being laid in the Railway Reserve along the Hntt Road on certain terms and conditions. (10) That a pathway be formed and a water eewer laid down in Norumnby-street. (11) That the seal of the Corporation be affixed to the memo, of agreement with the Hutt County Council relative te leave being granted for the laying of the . water mains along the Hutt-road. (12) 'J hat the Gas Company be paid tho amount of the purchase money of tho land taken for the extension of Tory-street, with interest thereon, in terms of resolution of tho 10th February, 1879. (13) That a supply of water for street-water-ing purposes be given occasionally to Newtown and Thorndon when it can be spared. (14) That the City Surveyor be authorised to obtain a mowing machine from England at a cost of about .£2B.
