Daniells ha 3 made a statutory declaration with regard to the facts of his story regarding thy affair between him and the natives. The only portion of it which differs from that published is that, in the latter part, he says, on reaching Eahotu Camp, he did not see Colonel Roberts, as ho was not there, and he wishes that part corrected, a3 the reporter must hare misunderstood it. He further states that he was. diffident at first in telling persons of the affair, because the reports about Maoris fighting might prevent him getting men to work on his land. However, when he passed the Fongarehu Camp coming' into town, the affair appeared to be known the o, and it was, therefore, no use his attempting to conceal the matter any longer. Immediately after the affair with the natives he removed his tent from his land, and took up hia quarters within the Eahotn Camp. Auckland, 29th September.
