ALARMING ISCEEASE OF AGITATION AND OUTRAGE. THE TRANSVAAL AND ENGLAND. FUETHEE CONCESSIONS DEMANDED. [REUTER'B TELEGRAMS. I London, 23rd September. Consols 995. New Zealand securities are unchanged at the following quotations :— 5 per cent. 10-40 loan, 102 i, ex dividend ; 5 per cent. 1839 loan, 102J ; 4i per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 99*. Adelaide and New Zealand wheat, ex store, remain at 57a and 55s respectively. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, has advanced 6d, and is quoted to-day at 41s 6d. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 1,870,000 quarters. The market is firm. Australian tillow haa advanced 2s per cwt.; best beef, 42a ; best mutton, 44a 6d. The market is decidedly firmer. At the wool eale to-day, GS'lO bales were offered, making a total of 255,000 catalogued since the opening of the series. A firm and active demand was ag.iin experiencod, and pricee for crosßbreds ruled fully £d higher than at the cose of last sales. The homeward New Zealand and Australian mails, via fan Francisco, which left Auckland on 16th August, were delivered here to-day. 24th September. There has been an alarming revival recently of the agitation in Ireland on the part of the Land Leaguers, and numerous outrages are reported to have been perpetrated iii various parts of tho country during the last few days. Considerable anxiety prevails in consequence, both in Ireland and in this country, and the strongest possible measures are being adopted by the Executive to put down the increasing disorder. Capetown, 23rd September. Telegrams are to hand from Pretoria, announcing that the newly-elected Volksraad was opened to-d iy at that place. President Kruger, in his opening address, stated that the Beer Government, after due consideration, dissonted from various portions of the Convention agreed to last month between the Ensrlish Commissioners and the Boer representatives, and ho believed that the English Government would be compelled to agree to modifications of the Convention in favour of the people of the Transvaal.
