THE PEESIDENT'S LAST MOMENTS. THE NEW CHIEF MAGISTBATE. Washington, 20th September. The acconnts to hand this morning from Long Branch state that the President died calmly at 10.50 last night. At 10.25 he was sleeping qnietly when he awoke with a pain in his heart, and in fifteen minutes breathed his last. Mrs. Garfield was present at the death-bed. In consequence of President Garfield's decease the Cabinet ha? summoned General Chester Arthur, the Vice-President, to fill the Presidency for the unexpired term — nearly three years and Eix months.
