WELLINGTON HARBOUR BOARD.
A meeting of this Board was held at noon to-day, and was attended by Messrs. W. H. Levin, M.H.R. (chairman), W. V. Jackson, P. A. Krull, J. E. Nathan, E. Pearce, Captain Kose, and Mr. H. M. Lyon (secretary). Mr. Pearce moved the series of resolutions of which he had given notice at the previous meeting in connection with the report of the Finance Committee, already published. The resolutions were seconded by Mr. Nathan and carried, together with the following : — " That the sinking fund may be deposited with the Wellington Trust and Loan Company, for a period not exceeding three years from the date of the first lodgment, and at not less than 5 per cent, compound interest, calculated half-yearly." The chairman suggested that the secretary should be instructed to write to Mr. Kennedy, the wharfinger of the Queen's Wharf, to inform the employes connected with this wharf that the Board had no inclination at present of makiner any alterations in the personnel of the staff. He believed the staff was a thoroughly efficient one, and it was not desirable that officials should be swept away for the mere Bake of a change. Mr. Jackson mentioned that the Wharf Committee would meet to-morrow to discuss several formal matters, and he suggested this subjeefc should be referred to that committee. It was then resolved that the committee be empowered to make arrangements to continue the services of the existing staff. The Board then adjourned.
