THE NATIVES ORDERED TO RETALIATE ON EUROPEANS. [united prbsB association]. New Plymouth, This Day. The Parihaka meeting on Saturday was not of so pacific a nature as previous ones. Both Te Whiti and Tohu Bpoko in an excited and, at times, a threatening manner. Te Whiti said every man must drop the pen and take up the sword. If the pakehas cast a stone at them, the natives were to stono the pakehas. If th 9 Europeans hit them with their fiats, the Maoris were to Strike with their fiats. If the pakohas took firoarms to fight, the natives were to do the same. Throughout the meeting this kind of talk was indulged in. Oponake, This Day. Te Whiti, in the course of his address at Parihaka, ordered that " the fight should be continued," meaning the fencing of the confiscated lands at the Cape. Some of the Europeans present, however, understood him to mean actual hostilities. The prophet has all along said he was "fighting" hard tho Government with his tongue, which is his only weapon to wage war with. All the rebellious spirits are amongst those who hare been imprisoned.
