A RESIDENT MEDICAL PRACTITIONER REQUIRED.
TO THE BDITOB OF THI BVENING POST. Sib — Knowing that you are always willing to assist the community at large in obtaining all good objects, I feel sure that you will oblige by inserting this letter in your valuable paper. My object in writing is to direct the attention of the medical profession to the fact that a population of some thousands, taking the West Coast lino of roatf, being about seventy miles from Wellington, to Foxton, is absolutely without a medical practitioner. It is a most anxious time whon sickness or accident overtakes parents or members of their family, knowing that they are so far beyond the reach of the required skilful aid ; and t would suggest, that tho settlers, say from Paikakariki to Johnsonville, shonld form amall committees in all the different distriots for the purpose of ascertaining what guarantee could be raised to be added to the practice ; that these committees should put themselves in communication with each other, and then, if the results wera satisfactory, advertise for the services of a duly qualified medical practitioner, to reside in some central position within the district that I have named. Hoping that with the combined efforts of the settlers this very great want may be supplied, I am, &0., Fbedbrick Bbadby. Pahautanui, sth September.
