THE ADULTERATION ACT. PROSECUTION OF A MILK VENDOR.
At the Resident Magistrate's Court this afternoon, a milkman named O. Sciramelli, of Island Bay, appeared to answer a charge of having, on the 27th of July last, sold to Henry Gordon, Inspeotor of Weights and Measures, a cortain artiole of food, to wit, one pint of milk mixed with water, with intent fiadulently to increase tho weight of the milk, ar.d failing to declare such admixture to the said Homy Gordon be' ore delivering the samo. Mr. Gully defended. Inspector Gordon stated that he pnrohwed a pint of milk Irom the defendant on the dato mentioned, which wjs af forwards analysed by Mr. Skey, Colonial Analyst, and found to contain ten per cent of water. Tho defence was of a very simple, nature. Soiratnolh said the milk he supplied to tho Inspector was obtained from another milkman, hi 3 own Bupply having run short. Judgment was reservod.
