SERIO US RAIL WAY ACCIDENT NEAR MELBOURNE.
¦» FOUR PEL SONS KILLED. SEVERAL INJURED. LIST OF CASUALTIES. [reuter's telegeams.J Melbourne, This Day. A serious accident occurred this morning on ihe Melbourne and Hawthorn Railway, near Jolimont. A tire of one of the wheels broke while tho train was proceeding between Richmond aud Jolimont, when tho engine and all the carriages left the rails at the station gate 3at the latter place. Some of the carriages capsized, and several passengers were injured, some of them seriously. Later. Later intelligence from the scene of the railway accident at Jolimont shows that fonr persons have been killed, viz. : Mr. Garrett, a Baptist minister, of Brighton ; Mr. Jameson, a law clerk ; Mr. Bailliere, the publisher ; and a labourer, whose name is unknown. The following are the names of the injured : — Seriously — Messrs. Bliss and Lyons, both auctioneers ; slightly injured — Major Geach, Mr. Fosbery (of the Crown Law Ofliee), Messrs. Elmstie, Stephen, Renwick, and others.
