Nelson. 26th August Arrived, 9 30 a m.— Hawea, from Pioton. Nafikb. 25th August. Arrived, 4 p.m.— Go-Ahead, from Wellington.
The s.B. Wanaka arrrived from the North at 12 30 this afternoon with the inward '* rise mail. Left Onehunga at 9.15 a.m. on tho 24th, and arrived at Taranaki at 10 p.m. same day; landed passengers und mails, sailed again as 11.15, and arrived off the lighthouse at Nelson at 2p m yesterday ; pushed on from there at 8 §.m., called at Plcton, and came in as above. Ine weather was experiensed from Manukau to Twanaki with light northerly winds ; thence till arrival at Pict^n, thick dirty weather, with heavy rain and strong southerly winds, in oon¦enuence of which, had to steam round D urville Islaud instead of through the Pass, thus making the trip longer than usual. She left again thiß afternoon lor Lyttelton. The 8.8. liotorua Jelt Melbourne on the 17th inst., and arrived at the Bluff early on the 2/nd ; left again at 4 p m., and arrived at Port Chalmors the following morning ; Bailed again at 3.45 p.m. on the 24th, and arrived at Lyttelton at 9 a.m. yesterday ; left again at 5.15 p.m., and arrived here at 930 thia morning. Bhs sails thia afternoon fer Auckland via East Coast The a s. Star of the Bouth arrived at 7.J0 last night from Port Chalmers, having left there at 8 p.m. on Tuesday last. She leaves for Westport direct at 8 p m. to-morrow ihe Mohaka arrived from Blenheim at 1.15 thia afternoon. „„ Th« steamer Patea arrived from Patea at 12.30 this afternoon. Bhe returns to-morrow. The s.B. Kiwi arrived last evening from Napier and Castlepoint. Bhe sails ugain thia afternoon for Oastlepoint, Napier and Gisborne. The schooner Elleiton lelt for Greymouth at 6 pm. yesterday. „ •.«. The steamers Stormbird and Huia sail at 5 ibis evening for Wanganui. Tha schooner Ellerton left for Greymoutn at 6 p.m. yesterday. The departure of the Wakatu, for Patea, had to ba postponed until to-day, when Bhe left at ' Mr. Bungard, late seoond officer of the N.Z. Shipping Company's ship Waipa, has baen appointed chief officer ot the ship Wainaea, now in our port.
