Wind— Between south-east and north-eiat in both Islands. Barometer— Further rise at paces north of Ly tteltou ; riae again Boon from thence southward. Sea— Moderate on weßtern coast; decrease between Kaikoura and Castlepoint ; increase in Poverty Bay. SYNOPSIS Off LAST 21 HOURS. From Lyttelton southwards th« barometer has fallen a little ; everywhere else it has risen Steadily. Strong southerly gales have continued on the east coast, between Kaikoura and PoTerty Bay, but in all other parts of the colony the weather has been moderate. R. A. EDWIN. 19th August.
