THE PUBLIC WORKS ESTIMATES.

The Public Works Estimates were circulated last night. Ihey are divided into twelve classes. For Class I , ' ' Immigration is set down £24,588, the Wellington items being — Immisration Officer, £100 (also Crown lands, £125) ; Matron, £25 ; Quarantinekeeper and Matron, £120. For class 10, " Lighthouses and Harboure," £31,545 is pnt down, including £300 for leading lights in Tory Channel, £700 for tho beacon in tho French Paas, and £6500 for tho muchneeded lighthouse on Waipapapa Point. Under class 11, " Contingent Defence," £34,000 ia set down, viz., £75,000 for contingent defence, and £9000 for harbour defences. Class 12 comprises £14,000, tho charges and expenses of raising loaus.
