Two fresh cases of small-pox have been reported to-day from Croydon, about fivo miles to the west of this city. The Board of Health have not yeb decided whether the patients, two children named Wyndrom, shall be removed to the qnarantine station or left under the care of their parents. This Day. A long and animated discussion took plaoe in the Legislative Assembly last night on the subject of a statement which has been published, to the effect that the trustees of the Milburn '""reek Copper Company, to whom Parliament last year voted .£17,000, have not accounted for the expenditure of £4000, and hinting that certain members of Parliament who interviewed the Government in favor of the grant, and certain publio officials, have been involved in the outlay of the £1000. In the course of the discussion Mr. E. A. Baker, the present Secretary of Mines, who wa3 one of the trustees of the Company, was severely attaoked by several speakers for his action in connection with the grant, and ultimately the matter was referred to a Royal Commission for enquiry. Melbourne, 9th August. The Victorian Parliament was adjourned to-day to the 31st September. This Day. His Excellency the Marquis of Normanby has gone on a visit to Sydney.
