The steamer Stormbird, which left for Wnnganui yeaterday afternoon, returned to the wharf at 2 p.m. to-day It appoars that when about 20 miles north of The Brothers somo of ihe boiler tubes gave way, and the water, getting into the furnace, put the fires out. As soon as the tubes ware patched up the captain decided to return to Wellington, and arrived as above. The aa. Mohaka arrived from Blenheim last sight, and returns to-night. The a b. Napier arrived from Kaikoura at 6 o'clock this iuoniiug. faho returns to-morrow evening. The steam launch Te Aro returned from the wreck of the Maggie Pateraon this afternoon, bringing up 3 tons zinc and about 50 hides. The Btetimera Uo-Ahead for Castlepoint and Napier, Wakatu for Patea, Kennedy for Nelson and West Goast, and Ie Anau for Auckland via East Coast, sailed yesterday, after the Post was published. The departure of the steamers Bowen for Sydney and Hongkong, and Patea for Patea, was postponed until to-day, when they left before noon. The b.B. Kotomahana will arrive from Auckland via tho Eaet Coast to-morrow forenoon. On Monday she leaves fur Melbourne via South. The as. Wunaka arrives from Lyttelton tomorrow, and leaves for Picton and Nelson on Monday. The steamers Haia and Stormbird arrive from Wanganui to-morrow morning, and return on Monday. Tho Jano Douglas may bo locked for from Foxton to-night. The aa. Grafton sails this eveniag for Nelßon and West Coast. The barque Berwickshire was towed in by the Grafton this morning, and shortly after berthed at the railway wharf. It appears that when she returned to Graenock to effect repairs, Captain Kilgour left her and Mr. E. Stuart waa appointed to take hia place, The barque has arrived in firat-claßß order, and made the passage in 84 daya The passengers have arrived ia good health. The voyage out was uneventful, and the weather, up to making land, generally fine.
