In making the fire a Ultle coal should be nßed first, and then the coke on top. In renewing the fire, raka out the a3he3. put a little coal (slack will do very well), then plac^ coke or the cinders on top ; the coke should be not larger than an egg, and will burn better if damped ; coke and coal should be mixed together for a range.
