PARLIAMENTARY NOTES AND GOSSIP.
Tho latest lobby rumour ia that on the first motion for going into Committee of Supply, a more direct No-confidonce motion than that tablod by Mr Ormond, will be brought forward ; but tha Opposition having sustniucd a defeat in tho previous one, tho chances aro that tho rumour is quite fonndationless. Two members have already gone homeviz , Messrs. Orrnond and Wood — and it la not expected they will t-iko any further pftxfc in the business of the presont session. Sir Georgo Grey ; it is stated, does not intend to abandon his Local Government Bill, but will push it on as energetically as possible. A large number of members oxpross their anxioty to get the work of tho session over without dehy and return to thoir homos. There is a pretty gouoral fooling that very little useful legislat on will be dono thi3 so sion, and that it would bo as well to press on- the Estimates ani proro^uo. Some astonishment is expressed tliab tho Governor has not yet communicated to tho Home authorities tho reprieve of Wharepa, tho Chatham Inland murderer, it being considered that such a proceeding ought to havo at onoo been notified to the Secretary of State.
