PLAYING AT PARLIAMENT.

TO THE EDITOR OT THI BTKNING POST. Sir,- For the last ten days or more every issue of your paper conveys the tidings that the House has not come to a vote on the Noconfidence cry. Just imagin for the last three years the colony haa paid to these lawmakers what would have built three woollen factories, and thus havo given honest people a chance of earning a living for themselves and families. The late Thomas Carlyle once said " a man willing to work and unable to find work, is one of the aaddest sights that Fortune's inequality exhibits nnder the sun." The colony at present stands a chance of being knooked baok in its industrial

undertakings for the next three years, owing to these Parliamentary ob^trnctionistf'. Our railway achemea aro al ready for Parliamentary sanction, and in due courai other indastriea aro nj c to follow. Whilst adopting the spirit of the British Parliament, our M.H.H.'s should carry out the letter also. Who ever heard of our Senators afc Home even issuing a third-class ticket to the Houso of Representatives ? And yet our hard working men have deducted from their wages 10 per cent., whilst the colony pays a year to our representatives for work whioh would ba as well done, if not bettor done, for mere incidental expenses. In a commercial firm thia block would not be tolerated for one moment, and any causing such should at once be dismissed, and no law would entitle such to a favorable discharge. I am, &c., Ww. Atjderdice. Panama Chambers, Wellington, 28th July, 1881: !
