The Winter Steeplechase meeting of the Victorian Racing Club was held to-day at Flemington. The weather was fine and there was a good attendance. His Excellency the Governor was present. The following are the results of the two chief events of the day : — Grand National Hurdle Race 3 miles. Mr. M. Loughlin's Sir Poter, list 4lb ... 1 Mr. A. Paqui's Cumberland, 9st 61b ... 2 Mr. J. Winter's Durringile, lOst 3lb ... 3 Thirteen horses started. It was a splendid race, and was won by a neck. Time, smins. 42sec3. (P) Grind National Steeplechase ; 3 miles. Mr. F. C. Goyder's Sussex, 13st lib ... 1 Mr. M. Loughlin's Twilight, list 41b ... 2 Mr. E. Weekes' Lucy, 93t lUb 3 Seven horses started. It was a good race, and was won by two lengths. Time, 7mins. 3seca.
