VITAL STATISTICS FOR JUNE.

The Registrar-General's report on the vital statistics of New Zealand for June, 1881, is just issued The main features are as follows : — Of the four cities, Dunedin, with a population of 24,077, had 69 births, 42 deaths, and a monthly death-rate of 1 72 per 1000 ; Wellington (population 20,535) had 69 birtha, 20 deaths, and a death-rate of 0.97 per 1000 ; Auckland (population 16,675) had 51 births, 15 deaths, and a death-rate of 0.89; Christchurch (population 15,214) had 50 births, 17 deaths, and a death-rate of 1.11. The total number of births was less by seven than in May ; the deaths in the two months were equal.
