ENGLAND AND THE TUNIS QUESTION SPREAD OF THE ARAB INSURRECTION. THE LONDON MARKETS. [beuteb's teleorams.l London, 19th July. In the House of Commons to-day, a question was put to the Premier with the view of ascertaining the intentions of the British Government in regard to the present state of affairs in Tunis. In reply, Mr. Gladstone stated that diplomatic communications were passing between the Foreign office and the French Government in reference to Tunisian affairs, and Borne decision would shortly be arrived at as to the action, if any, to bo taken by England. 1 Consols have fallen £, and are quoted today at 100 i. New Zealand 5 per cent. 10- 10 loan are at 105J; New Zealand 5 percent. 1889 loin, 105 ; New Zealand 4* per cent. 1579-1904 loan, 103. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, remains at 48s, and New Zealand wheat, ex ship, at 435, Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 345. Australian Tallow is unchanged. Best beef, 34b 6d ; best mutton, 36s per cwt. The Australian and New Zealand mails, via Suez and Brindisi, which left Melbourne on June 7, were delivered here to-day.
