Sailed— Hero, at 6 am., for Melbourne, with 23 passengers and 18,808 ounces of gold from the West Coast, made upas follows:— Greymouth, 12,4920z5; Hokitiisa, 6,30G0zb. The bb. Penguin, whioh started for Lyttelton yesterday afternoon, had to return to harbor, in consequence of the very severe weather prevailing outsido. She made another start this afternoon. The steamer Hawoa, for the North, sailed this afternoon. On account of the heavy gale prevailing most of the departures of steamers advertised for today have been unavoidably postponed. The Graf ton acd Charles Edward will leave for their aoyeral destinations as soon as the gale moderates and the Napier will make a start tonight, but the Huia, Tui, Btormbird, Kiwi and Jane Douglas, will not sail until to-morrow. The b.b. Botorua will arrive from Melbourne via southern ports to-mcrrow morning She Bails in the aftornoon for Sydney via the East COttßfc. The steamer Wakatipu arrives from Port Chalmers and Lyttelton to-morrow morning, and leaves same day for Sydney direct. The b.b. Taiaroa should arrive from Onehunga, via Taranaki, Nelson and Ficton, to-morrow morning. She sails for Lyttelton in the aftermoon. The steamers Wakatu and Patea are expected to be in port soon, and ate advertised to leave for Patea to-morrow. The bb. Mohaka left Blenheim on Monday last for Wellington, and haa not Bince been heard of. It ia coDJeotured tbet Bhe is taking rhelter in Port Underwood. -? ENGLISH SHIPPING. fEUBOPEAN MAIL ] The Wave Queen Bailed from London on the 27th May for Wellington and Napier. The following vessels were loading at London for Wellington on the Ist June: Piafeo (1075 tons), Glonlora (774 tons). Woiroa (1015 tons), Pleione (1092 tons) ; the Unicorn (499 tons) was on the berth at Greenock for Wellington. The Border Chief, Captain Bhierloh, from Melbourne, with wheat, arrived at Falmouth on the 27th May, and reports :— On the 24th May, in 49deg N.,7deg W., was struck on the port quarter by the ship Canterbury (from New Zealand for Xjondon) carrying away plates of bulwarks, rails, miezen rigging and deokP, and completely destroying the port Bide of the cabin, dec. The Canterbury was apparently bat very slightly damaged. The Selene, from Melbourne, bound for Rouen, collided with and sank the Fronoh tug Seine No. 2, whilst in tow of the latter, on the 30th May, at about 1200 metres from the entrance of the port.
