THE SCHOONER MAGGIE PATERSON ASHORE AT THE HEADS.

? ALL HANDS SAVED. Captain Holliday recoived tho following telegram from Pilot Holmes at 9 o'clock thiß morning: — "Topsail schooner on the rocks close to the boat-landing, under Pencarrow Lighthouse. The sea is not very heavy at the Heads, but too much at present for me to land on the other side." Another message was recoived shortly after, stating that the vessel was the Maggie Pater son, and all hands were safe. Captain Campbell, of the steamer Kiwi, which arrived thi3 morning at 10.30, informs us that the schooner did not appear to have received much damage, and was lying bow on to a sandy beach, the foa around her boing comparatively smooth. lie thinks she will not receive any damage, and will be easily got off when her cargo is discharged. It appears that the Maggie Paterson left Greymouth on Tuesday last, with a cargo of coal, for Dunedin. She is a smart-looking topsail schooner, of 84 tons register, and is commanded by Captain Paterson ; the latter and Mr. K. Ramsay, of Dunedin, are tho ownors. She i 3 insured for iU2OO ia the National Insurance Company, half of which is reinsured in the Now Zealand Company. No particulars as to the cause of the disaster wore received up to the hour the Post wa-» published, but it is generally thought that she was driven baofc by the heavy southerly gale last night, and that her captain was unable to see Pencarrow light, owing to the thick weather prevailing. Captain Bendall will go out to Pencarrow on behalf of tho Insurance companies this aftornoon, to assist in launching the vessel.
