DIVIDEND OF THE E.C. AND A. CdARTERED BANK. CERRIBLE TORNADO IN AMERICA. APPOINTMENT OF THE IRISH LAND COMMISSION. DEATH OF DEAN STANLEY. .RBUTKR'S TSLEQEAIIS. I London, 18th July. Consols, 101*. New Zealand securities remain firm at last quotation s. Adelaide and New Zealand breadstuffs aro without quotable change. Accounts to hand from the Kentish hop grounds give less favorable reports of the slate of the season's crops. The English, Scottish, and Australian Chartered Bank has declared a dividend of 4 per cent, for the past half-year, and carries forward £4000 to tho reserve fund. The Very Rev. A. P. Stanley, Dean of Westminster, is alarmingly ill, and his physicians give no hope of his recovery. In the House of Commons to-day, Mr. Gladstone announced that the Irish Land Commission had been appointed, and would consist of the following members : —Lord O'Hagan (Lord Chancellor of Ireland), Mr. E. F. Litton (member for Tyrone), and Mr. Vergon, a land agent. 19fch July. Dean Stanley died to-day, aged 66. Very general surprise is expressed at the names of tho members of the Irish Land Commission. Ihe appointments are considered weak, and will be strongly opposed by the Irish members in the House of Commons. New Yokk, 18th July. A very severe tornado passed over the greater part of the State of Minnesota today. Immense destruction has been caused to property, and heavy financial loss has resulted.
