E. Grant-Duff, Under-Seore-tary of State for the Colonies, in reply to a question, promised that tho Government would take into consideration the question of taking steps to bring about an agreement between the Powers, iv order to counteract kidnapping and slavery in the Pacific. Communications having boen made to tho British Government by tho Boers who remained loyal during tho recent war, asking for some compensation in conseqnenoe of the withdrawal of British rule from the Transvaal, tho Right Hon. W. E. Gladstone has addressed a latter in reply, in which he stitos the Government do not consider the petitioners are entitled to any indemnification under the circumstances named. Consols are unchanged at 100}. The total reserve iv notes and bullion in the Bank of England is j81tJ.400,000. Bank rate of discount, 2} por cent ; market rate, 13a Bd. At tho wool auction to-day 9500 bales were catalogued A firm and active demand waa again experienced. The withdrawals of wool to date amount to 15,000 bales. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 48s 6d 5 New Zealand wheat, 45s 6d ; Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 31s. Australian tallow — Best beof, per o>vt., 31a Cd ; best mutton, 3tm 6d. Constantinople, 23rd Juno. Telegrams aro to hand to-day reporting that throe Liberal deputies of tho Bulgarian National Assembly have been murdered at Sofia. Much disordor and agitation continues to prevail in tho principality. Rome, 23rd June. Great excitement prevails throughout tho country in consequence of tho riots which occurrod at Marseilles on tho|l7th and 18th instant, and tho numerous arrests of Italian subjects that have Binco boon made by ordor of tho Fronch Government. Anti-French meetings aro boing hold in several Italian towns to express indignation with tho action of tho Fronch.
